Driving in Tangier and northern Morocco
Driving in Tangier is relatively easy, especially in the new town. The historic center (kasbah and medina) is pedestrian – guarded parking is available near the main gates. Parking is affordable (10-20 MAD/day in guarded lots).
The roads of northern Morocco are varied. The A1 motorway to Rabat is excellent and tolled. The road to Tetouan and Chefchaouen crosses the Rif mountains with winding turns but remains well maintained. Tanger Med port has direct motorway access. The Al Boraq high-speed train lets you combine rail and a rental car to optimize your trip.
